One of my friends told me that he was really bothered by red wine. His gout actually flared up whenever he drank red wine. Thought it was so strange because when you think of red wine, you tend to think it’s healthy and has a lot of anti inflammatory properties.
Why it could be happened? Because red wine contains high concentration of antioxidants and surely the most significant and well publicized reason as of late. This because red wine has a miracle substance called resveratrol.
However, there are other components of red wines that can really aggravate gout. So, what exactly gout is? Gout is a condition that is easily influenced by certain foods that raise the levels of uric acid in the blood stream.
It makes bad effect to your body. The body will deposit crystals into the joints, resulting in pain, discomfort and inflammation similar to arthritis. Certain foods help add uric acid to the body, and these foods should be avoided because they cause this interaction called gout.
Red wine may aggravate gout because it can dramatically increase uric acid levels. But red wine isn’t the only thing. Alcohol, especially in excessive amounts, can lead to gout attacks. Red meats and organ meats are also instigators and should probably be avoided. Shell fish has a very bad rap for causing gout as well, and it also can aggravate the levels of uric acid in the blood.
But that’s not all; even vegetarians have to be careful, because asparagus, legumes and beans have also been known to produce too much uric acid in the blood.
